Raw landscapes, mythological in scale - compelling yet unapproachable - are the visual framework surrounding the artist Carina Zunino's exhibition CURTAIN FALLS
By putting the nature of Iceland on stage she has created an installation with a series of photographic works. The intersection between photography, sculpture and printmaking with their investigation of space, experience and memory create a sophisticated aesthetic and merge with the spectators' physical space. In other words, Zunino uses Nature's (outer) manifestations and our (inner) image bank as the point of departure for a discussion of the different aspects of our human presence in the world.
In the exhibition, CURTAIN FALLS Zunino continues her artistic investigation of the individual filter through which we experience the world. The photographs used in the works were taken on a working trip to Iceland in 2011.
The title CURTAIN FALLS refers to the stage curtain that alternately presents and conceals the stage and harbors the theaters illusionary universe. Like a play each work in the exhibition has an accompanying text separated into acts. The exhibition consists of 11 photographic works, each involving the use of three dimensional elements created by being either cut through or by hanging from the ceiling.
With CURTAIN FALLS Galleri Image presents an exhibition where the works enter into a dialogue with the exhibition space and where one can experience works that literally unfold. These combined with texts open up for many layers of meaning and interpretation.
A catalogue is being issued in conjunction with the show.
