Nordic Photography Network
Nordic Photography Network (NPN) is a network established in 2012 by five Nordic photography organisations: Northern Photographic Centre, Galleri Image, Forbundet Frie Fotografer, Fotogalleriet og Centrum for Fotografi.
Today NPN consists of ten institutions and organisations promoting photography.
The objective of the network is to increase collaboration in the field of contemporary camera-based art within the Nordic countries. The network also aims at generating deeper, mutual knowledge of different artistic practices both within the Nordic countries and within a broader international context.

The history of NPN
We started with a pre-project. The aim of the pre-project was to create a Nordic Photographic Network (NPN) and a concept for a Nordic Photographic Event.
The pre-project was a co-operation between:
Gunilla Muhr, director Centrum för Fotografi, Stockholm
Stephanie von Spreter, Director, Fotogalleriet, Oslo
Kjersti Solberg Monsen, Director Association of Free Photographers (FFF), Oslo
Beate Cegielska, Director, Galleri Image, Århus
Alla Räisänen, Director, Northern Photographic Centre, Oulu, (founder and coordinator)
During 2012 the pre-project had organized network meetings in Oulu, Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Aarhus.
Since 2014 The Nordic Photography Network has arranged Week 37, as a platform to discuss medium-specific questions and showcase Nordic camera-based art.
Week 37 includes exhibitions, seminars, and other presentation formats and was held in Oulu in 2014, Stockholm in 2015, and Oslo in 2016.
In 2017 The Nordic Photography Network met in Aarhus, during its turn as the European Capital of Culture. But the meeting wasn't held in week 37 - for once it was held in August. In 2019 a meeting was held at Gallery Hippolyte in Helsinki.
In 2020 The Nordic Photography Network met online for a dialogue about the contemporary and the future for camera-based art.
