Demo in the Demo Room at Galleri Image

In February 2019, Sophia Ioannou Gjerding and William Kudahl opened a new exhibition concept in the Demo Room in Galleri Image, where a unique exhibition program will be on display alongside Galleri Image’s other exhibition programs.

Gjerding and Kuhdal curate the series of exhibitions for this format under the main title Demo, aiming to create an ambitious exhibition program over the course of 5 months with both national and international artists. The exhibitions will revolve around a mixture of sound, language, image and physical objects, and will include both solo- and group exhibitions. The series of exhibitions will unfold in two different exhibition spaces  simultaneously: In the Demo Room on Vestergade, and in an attached virtual space; a website has been produced especially for the occasion with sound based works, which are connected to the exhibition in the Demo Room.

Demo opened on Friday 8 February 2019, with the opening of the exhibition“Krigen, Kunsten og Hjemsøgelsen skrevet af Ann-Katrine Schmidt Nielsen og oplæst af Kaptajn Simon Ekelund” by Peter Voss Knude.

The second exhibition in Demo was "Haunting Prop-blem" by Sophia Ioannou Gjerding 8 March to 4 April 2019. You can listen to the audio piece "..singing cuckoo song" here.

The third exhibition was the group exhibtion "Minimalism A-Z" with artworks by Kasper Hesselbjerg, Cia Rinne, Poul Pedersen and Vagn Steen. You can listen to the audio piece here.

On 7 June, "To udklip fra Kafkas dagbøger" by William Kuhdal opened in the Demo Room. On the Demo Room website, Kuhdal reads a series of texts aloud, revolving around themes of th relationship between negative and positive motifs, the materiality of abscense and the immateriality of subtance.

Follow the Demo Room Facebook page for updates about Demo and future exhibitions.

The exhibitions are supported by the City of Aarhus (Kulturudviklingspuljen).
