Galleri Image
is pleased to present a new exhibition:
Maja Ingerslev (Denmark)
"The Time can wait"
19 November - 19 December 2010

How can we find the moment where
time waits?
The blowing of the wind animates
beautiful paper cuts which appear to have alighted on the sharp
edges and torn-apart rocks of Nature. In this new installation
of photographs and video, Maja Ingerslev dramatises the meeting
of reality and imagination by giving us an elusive glimpse of
fragile paper formations incorporated into landscapes whose rough
surfaces and surroundings sharply contrast with the paper. The
images seem to hold within them a secret narrative.
The fragile paper silhouettes shaped
into snowflakes, flowers, roots and feathers point up not only
their own grace but also nature's. In an odd way the paper-cuts
place themselves between what and what doesn't "exist".
It is as if the Imagined meets Reality in a union of branched
paper and flowering whiteness.
The images in question have been
fashioned in Denmark, Italy and Iceland.
In Ingerslev's exhibition Time can
wait, two worlds meet. We see invoked an adventurous state of
being beyond the usual time of clock and bell. Somewhere between
Beginning and End there is the promise of change.
Maja Ingerslev (born 1972) was educated
at the Jutland Academy of Art (2002) and lives near Aarhus. Her
art encompasses photography, drawing, video, animation and installation
spaces. One of her main themes is mankind's relation with nature
and reality. She has had exhibitions all around Denmark and also
abroad. Time can wait is an installation especially made for Galleri
Image. www.majaingerslev.com
