Demonstrators
and combat ready police, ravaged buildings covered in graffiti,
snarling or cringing dog, and people, baring their bodies.
Through expressive images Henrik
Vering shows us a Berlin that lies far from the insolvent café
backdrop that so many Danes flock to right now.
Henrik Vering unfolds what he describes
as his auteur-photography, through two decades in Berlin.
In a narrative parallel to cinema
and literature Henrik Vering introduces a Berlin that is invisible
for most, a Berlin, which with its aggressiveness and
Eros, riots and dances, presents the onlooker with a pulsing
world inhabited by man and beast. It is the antithesis of the
city.
Henrik Vering captures a fascinating
reality that is constantly under change.
He photographs intense and sensuous
momentary images that breathe in an eternal now.
Berlin is city and prey, mutually
devouring, existing yet dependant on each other.
Henrik Vering was born in 1963
in Århus. He has exhibited in Denmark and Germany and
has published several books. Henrik Vering is currently working
a number of book projects including one on his hometown Århus
that will be published later this year.
He lives and works in Copenhagen
and affiliated to the photo-office BAM.
The book Berlin Die
Stadt und die beute, published by Schöne-Bücher
Verlag and with a preface by Rune Gade, will be released in
connection with the opening of the exhibition.
Welcome to the opening of the exhibition
and book release on Freday the 7th of March 2008 between 16-18
pm.
Henrik Vering will be present at the opening.
Opening hours: Tuesday-Sunday 13-17
pm.
