Image takes great pleasure in presenting Snowboundby the American
photographer Lisa M. Robinson.
Lisa M. Robinson's photo series Snowbound is inspired by the Haiku
form of Japanese poetry. By observing everyday things close-up,
she seeks beauty through uncomplicated language. The formal elements
in her photographs present themselves as a parallel to haiku poetry's
acute, minimalist verbal images.
Lisa
M. Robinson´s photographic landscapes invite viewers to
slow down and immerse themselves. The simplicity of the snow-clad
landscapes is captivating, and there is something unreal and metaphysical
about the images, even though the photographs are grounded in
everyday life's nearby surroundings and objects. Lisa M. Robinson's
photographs are not meant to be documentary. Her goal is to create
an atmosphere.
In "Snowbound," Lisa M. Robinson succeeds in expressing
a sensation of the here-and-now which at the same time hints at
something larger, lying just beyond the temporal instant that
is captured by the camera.
Lisa M. Robinson was born in 1968. She studied photography at
the Savannah College of Art and Design (Savannah, Georgia) and
English at Columbia University (New York). She has won several
awards, and on October 13, 2006 she will receive the Outstanding
Alumnus Award from Savannah College of Art and Design.
Snowbound is Lisa M. Robinsons first exhibition in
Europe. In collaboration with the Jack Leigh Gallery (Savannah,
Georgia), Galleri Image is publishing an exhibition catalog with
text by Birgitte Hjort Jaritz.
You
are cordially invited to the opening on Friday October 6, from
16:00 to 18:00. Lisa M. Robinson will be present at the opening.
The exhibition is open from Tuesday - Sunday from 13:00 - 17:
