at præsentere installationen
"Do
not become the slave of your own success"
af den hollandske
kunstner Gillion Grantsaan.

.... Damian Hirst wasn't
shocking; we, the society needed him to be shocking.
I always wonder why they don't get shocked by a Moroccan artist,
who really makes
work that we don't understand? I know, I know, the simple response
is,
"because we don't get it".
We can only be shocked by something we already know.
True innovation never happens
within the same family of ideas, of cultural values.
True innovation comes from the collision between different perspectives
on the same situation.
And the two perspectives are in their own right true. The collision
with a strong creole culture and
the oppressive Western society was the spark for innovative black
and white musicians to develop
Rock and Roll.
These two cultures still exist, but they don't mix.
People mix ideas, but the cultures don't mix.
We talk about a multicultural society, thinking the cultures will
mix....
but they don't, they never will.
